Vagharshapat is most populous town in the Armavir Province of Armenia, located about 18km west of the capital Yerevan, and 10km north of the closed Turkish-Armenian border. Saint Gayane Church and Echmiadzin Monastery will appeal to history buffs. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Armenia Wine and Zvartnots Temple. Explore Vagharshapat's surroundings by going to Sardarapat Memorial (in Araks) and Golden Grape Armas Estate (in Nor Yedesia). There's still lots to do: delve into the distant past at The Churches of Echmiatsin and the Archaeological Site of Zvartnots, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Mesrop Mashtots Cathedral, steep yourself in history at Saint Hripsime Church, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Gevorkian Seminary.

Artik, is a town located in the Shirak Province of Armenia. On the 10th (Fri), take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Aragats and then explore the ancient world of Lmbatavank Church. Keep things going the next day: explore the historical opulence of Dashtadem Fortress, then delve into the distant past at Caravanserai Ruins, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Talin Cathedral.

Traveling by car from Kapan to Artik takes 7.5 hours. The time zone difference moving from Armenia Standard Time (AMT) to Turkey Time (TRT) is minus 1 hour. In July in Artik, expect temperatures between 32°C during the day and 16°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 12th (Sun) to allow time for travel back home.
