Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
On the 2nd (Tue), get a sense of history and politics at Town Hall and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Cankarjevo Nabrežje. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: step into the grandiose world of Ljubljana Castle, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathedral of St. Nicholas, then admire the masterpieces at National Gallery, and finally take an in-depth tour of National Museum of Contemporary History.

Bled, Slovenia — 5 nights

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Visit Bled Castle and Church of St. Andrew for their historical value. Escape the urban bustle at Vintgar Gorge and Lake Bohinj. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bled: Mostnica Gorge (in Stara Fužina), Bohinjsko Jezero (Church of St John the Baptist, Vogel, &more) and Kranjska Gora (Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Zelenci Nature Reserve, &more). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Bled Island, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Kancijan, take in the dramatic scenery at Iglica Waterfall, and look for all kinds of wild species at Planica Valley.

Piran, Slovenia — 3 nights

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to St. George's Church and Church of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Anne's Friary and Church of St. Bernardine will appeal to history buffs. There's much more to do: get a new perspective on nature at Magical World of Shells Museum, tour the pleasant surroundings at Svetilnik Beach, examine the collection at Koper Regional Museum, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Piran Minorite Monastery.
