Armenian Switzerland

An alpine haven resting in a plush evergreen national park, Dilijan has made a name for itself as the "Armenian Switzerland." A much-loved spa town rich in culture and history, uncover the majestic 10th century monasteries, undisturbed scenic vistas, and hiking trails through undulating forest.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Dilijan: Tsakhkadzor (Wine Store Tsaghkadzor & Kecharis Monastery), Monastery Sevanavank (in Sevan) and Noratus Cemetery (in Noratus). And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of Haghartsin Monastery, enjoy the sand and surf at Hayravank Monastery, don't miss a visit to Goshavank Monastery, and explore the activities along Lake Parz.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Dilijan is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also drive. Traveling from Dubai in August, expect nights in Dilijan to be much colder, around 23°C, while days are little chillier, around 41°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Mon) so you can go by car to Tatev.

Tatev — 2 nights

Tatev is a village and rural community in the Syunik Province of Armenia. Start off your visit on the 9th (Tue): take in the spiritual surroundings of Tatev Monastery, then take in the views from Melik Tangi Bridge, and then don't miss a visit to Vorotnavank Monastery. Keep things going the next day: explore the striking landscape at Medieval Goris Cave Dwellings and then take in the dramatic natural features at Goris Rock Forest.

Drive from Dilijan to Tatev in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus, subway, and taxi. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Areni.

Areni — 2 nights

Areni is a village in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. Start off your visit on the 11th (Thu): explore the stunning scenery at Noravank Gorge, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Noravank Monastery, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Astvatsatsin Church, and finally explore the fascinating underground world of T'rchuneri (Bird) Cave.
