Kick off your visit on the 13th (Sat): enjoy breathtaking views from St Mark's Campanile, admire the striking features of Basilica di San Marco, then examine the collection at Doge's Palace, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza San Marco, and finally snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri. Fly from Rome to Venice in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. In May, plan for daily highs up to 26°C, and evening lows to 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sun) so you can drive to Florence.

Venture out of the city with trips to Siena (Palazzo Pubblico and Museo Civico, Piazza del Campo, &more) and Leaning Tower of Pisa (in Pisa). Getting from Venice to Florence by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 25°C in May, and nighttime lows around 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Thu) early enough to drive to Cinque Terre.

On the 19th (Fri), take in the spiritual surroundings of Church of San Giovanni Battista, trek along Cinque Terre Trails, step into the grandiose world of Castello Doria, then trek along Footpath Monterosso - Vernazza, and finally take a stroll around Vernazza. Traveling by car from Florence to Cinque Terre takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In May in Cinque Terre, expect temperatures between 25°C during the day and 13°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Sun) early enough to catch the flight to Rome.
