Bucharest is known for sightseeing, historic sites, and museums. Curtea de Argeș is a city in Romania on the right bank of the Argeş River, where it flows through a valley of the lower Carpathians (the Făgăraș Mountains), on the railway from Pitești to the Turnu Roșu Pass. Change things up with these side-trips from Curtea de Arges: Ostrov Monastery (in Calimanesti), Moldoveanu Peak (in Fagaras) and Cetatea Poienari (in Arefu). There's lots more to do: take a memorable drive along Transfagarasan Highway, contemplate the waterfront views at Le Lac Balea, and admire the engineering at Vidraru Dam.
