Sapporo — 4 nights

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Explore Sapporo's surroundings by going to Otaru (Otaru Denuki Koji, Otaru Canal, &more). There's much more to do: walk around Odori Park, get a sense of history and politics at Former Hokkaido Government Office Building, get into the urban bustle at Sapporo Underground Shopping Centre Aurora Town, and take in panoramic vistas at Sapporo JR Tower Observatory T38.

Kutchan-cho's reputation rests on two things: skiing and potatoes.
On the 3rd (Tue), identify plant and animal life at Kagaminuma, do some two-wheel cruising with White Isle Niseko, hit the slopes at Niseko Village Ski Resort, then get outside with Niseko Tokyu Grand HIRAFU, and finally relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas. You can drive from Noboribetsu to Kutchan-cho in 2 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train and bus; or take a train. While traveling from Noboribetsu, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Kutchan-cho, ranging from highs of -3°C to lows of -6°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Wed) so you can go by car to Hakodate.
