The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like One Adventure Park and Toy museum. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Gate of Dawn and Perloja S.Maria and St. Francis of Assisi Church. Change things up with these side-trips from Vilnius: Trakai Island Castle Museum (in Trakai) and Kernave Mounds (in Kernave). Lithuania's third-largest city, Klaipeda, sits as a seaport and cruise stop with a wealth of museums and medieval sites.
Step off the beaten path and head to Nida Beach and Lithuanian Sea Museum. Get in touch with nature at Nemunas River Delta Regional Park and Smiltyne Beach.
