Named after the monastery around which it was built, Sinaia is a mountain resort and popular holiday destination for Romanians and foreigners alike.
Take a break from the city and head to Cabana Babele and Lalomita Cave. Shop till you drop at Cantacuzino Castle and Carpati Shopping Center. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Sinaia: Crucea Caraiman (in Busteni), Snagov Monastery (in Snagov) and Ploiesti (Marea Sinagoga & The Clock Museum). There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Peles Castle, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Manastirea Dealu, don't miss a visit to Manastirea Caraiman, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Manastirea Sinaia.

Curtea de Arges — 2 nights

Curtea de Argeș is a city in Romania on the right bank of the Argeş River, where it flows through a valley of the lower Carpathians (the Făgăraș Mountains), on the railway from Pitești to the Turnu Roșu Pass. Kick off your visit on the 10th (Wed): take in the spiritual surroundings of Mănăstirea Curtea de Argeș and then explore the ancient world of Cetatea Poienari. Keep things going the next day: see human ingenuity at work at Vidraru Dam and then cruise along Transfagarasan Highway.

Getting from Sinaia to Curtea de Arges by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In May in Curtea de Arges, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 10°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Thu) so you can travel to Mogosoaia.

Mogoșoaia is a commune in the west of Ilfov County, Romania, composed of a single village, Mogoșoaia.In late 17th century, Constantin Brâncoveanu bought land here, and, between 1698–1702, he built the Mogoșoaia Palace. Kick off your visit on the 12th (Fri): boost your wellbeing at Therme București. Here are some ideas for day two: identify plant and animal life at Neagra Bison Reservation, then make a trip to St.George's Church, and then admire the striking features of Mogosoaia Palace.
