Kaunas — 4 nights

Situated between the Neris and Nemunas rivers, Kaunas is known for its old town, which, though smaller than the capital's, is in much better condition.
Kaunas is known for historic sites, museums, and shopping. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: make a trip to Ninth Fort, look for gifts at Jaukus Namai, step into the grandiose world of Kaunas Castle, and brush up on your military savvy at Atomic KGB Bunker.

Istanbul, Turkey to Kaunas is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Istanbul to Kaunas. In October, Kaunas is colder than Istanbul - with highs of 11°C and lows of 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Wed) so you can go by car to Vilnius.

The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Take a break from Vilnius with a short trip to Trakai Island Castle Museum in Trakai, about 36 minutes away.
