Visited 5 years ago, I cannot imagine a life spending in a jail, I took so many details in the jail, it made me thinking about my life, highly recommended

While the old museum was focussed on the history of this prison colony (when I visited 30 years ago) the current museum gives an overview of the history of Dutch prisons and punishments in general. We opted for the extra tour around the village and that was very interesting even for my father who lives in a nearby village and has been in Veenhuizen often as the guide tells interesting stories.
