Designed to resemble an "urban forest" in which the top of each house represents a tree, Kijk-Kubus serves today as the display piece for one of Holland's most unorthodox buildings. The brainchild of architect Piet Blom, the housing unit was constructed in 1977 and has since become a recognizable landmark of modern Rotterdam. Visit the museum house and wander through the living quarters, spread out across three stories and complete with angled windows and oddly-shaped floor plans. Despite the unusual visual appearance within, the cube has many ordinary furnishings intended to demonstrate that life within could still be perfectly normal. You can easily access the houses by subway, as they sit above the Blaak station. Unique attraction of Holland. These cube houses in Rotterdam are probably some of the most famous buildings in the Netherlands. Advisable to book tickets in advance. Built back in the 1970s, bright yellow houses are attracting people from all over the world. I had a chance to visit one of them last weekend, and have found its architecture to be utterly amazing. Some g house are open for visiting and Samoyed to visit their interior and explored the idea behind them.

Cube houses in Rotterdam attraction near the market hall - worth a visit! We have been in Rotterdam for a day trip and done the usual tourist sightseeing tour. The cube houses and the nearby market hall are next to each other. Inside the cube houses there is a museum house which you also can visit for payment of 3€. The walk through the buildings itself is free and the architecture is great and so different. Also there is a hostel inside the cube houses. A bar / restaurant in the basement next to the small ship harbour and some shops inside the cube houses.
