    Although the topic was not that appealing for our teenager, she was really enthousiast afterwards. Nice mix of entertainment with enough information for the grown ups.

    Modern and up-to-date museum about the battle of the Dutch against the water. Even ongoing projects on the development of new islands are explained. Lots of things to do for kids as well. Great views over the lake. Plenty of parking space, and really quiet on a Sunday (late morning and early afternoon). Food (lunch) is simple but good. Certainly worth a visit.

    We drove across this great piece of design and engineering when travelling from Amsterdam to Giethoorn. You can drive along the dijk itself and see the sea on one side of it and the fresh water polder on the other. There is ample car parking at the centre as well as some visitors attractions, a cafe and restaurant. Watch out for the sculptures along the way including one of the man who designed the dijk. There is an abundance of wildlife especially birds and some great walking/ photography opportunities. Well worth a short visit!
