Kamp Westerbork, Hooghalen

Really interesting! The visitors center has lots of information in English so you can read the stories of survivors from the camp. The actual camp is 2 km further up with a free bus between the center and the camp, its also a pleasant walk through the woods to get to the camp.There is a guided tour in Dutch but there is also lots to see as you walk around. No toilets at the camp only the visitors center so go before leaving. The cycle from Assen is also very nice and takes about 40 minutes.

I walked the Westerbork trail which starts in Amsterdam and ends in the camp Westerbork. The long walk through the woods up to the camp makes you realise what really went on in this camp. The camp itself shows how it was set up. There is enough to see as you walk walk over the former camp grounds. The effects of the deported people that are displayed in the museum most sobering. But having said that I learned alot and found everything very interesting and well cared for. Definitely worth a visit.
