Museum Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder
Museum Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder, a private canal house, used to be a secret meeting place for Roman Catholics who were unable to worship in public after 1578. Built during the 1660s, the three-story site in the red-light district is the second oldest museum in Amsterdam. It showcases traditional rooms, halls, and kitchens with heavy Dutch furniture, church artifacts, and art pieces. See the lavishly decorated main hall with an altar at its end, and tour the house, marked by four centuries of history. Brilliant museum, good for kids not to big and comes with audio tour (free) for adults and a kids version. Very clever setup you really get a good idea what the history was like. Please note the church is on the fringes of the "red light" district..

The story and the name of this church: Our Lord in the Attic, truly gives a deep meaning of humility and sacrifice of being a Catholic. We arrived here almost at closing time but the staffs are so kind to allow us to enter the church although we couldn't use the audio guide anymore, and it was a very memorable and touching experience.
