See the Alps by taking a guided boat tour on , located in the heart of Switzerland. The lake covers a total area of over 114 sq km (44 sq mi), much of its shoreline rising steeply into the surrounding mountains. Most of the visitors choose to experience this picturesque region by taking a trip on one of the paddle steamers linking the tucked-away resorts spread along the lake's shores. You can also circumnavigate the lake by road, which follows a scenic route and passes through several tunnels. However you choose to travel, be sure to visit the mountain meadow on the far southeastern shore of the lake, the birthplace of the Swiss nation. • Beautiful view of mountain. Very serene. Lake walk in night is recommended
  • Sailed from Lucerne to Flüelen on the Uri, Europe's oldest paddle steamer. The 100 year old boat is in the best possible conditions and offers all amenities with a flair of the grand old times. The panoramic boat ride lasts around 2:45 h, in early October there was a fresh breeze so bring warm cloth if you plan to stay outside. The upper deck is beautifully sunny, but other areas more wind protected. The morning fog soon lifted and views opened, so don't be deterred if the morning looks gloomy. The restaurant serves food and drink, but nobody minds if you bring your own either. Indoors there are information panels and one can watch the steam engine in full action. It looks as shiny and new as it started operations yesterday, not 100 years ago.
