Create an itinerary including Hofkirche
Perched on a small hill that overlooks the old town, Hofkirche remains one of the most significant examples of Renaissance architecture in Switzerland. The history of the church traces back to the 8th century when a Benedictine monastery was built in this place. Notice the high Gothic towers, the only Romanesque elements of the exterior that survived the 1633 fire. The current building dates to the Thirty Years War and features a lavish white stone interior furnished with gilded statues and marble high altar. The huge organ with nearly 6,000 pipes allows you to immerse yourself not only in history but also in church music. Hofkirche is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

  • The Roman Catholic Church in Lucerne . It has an imposing elevated position from the lake. Attractive gold pictures inside and attractive twin steeples.

  • It's worth taking the time to walk around the Church and pay our respects to the deceased. It's a particular way to bury the dead that isn't seen everywhere. The Church building itself is in mint condition. Worth checking the daily mass times (in German). 🙏
  • Visited this church as their towers are visible from a distance and one of the few Catholic churches in Switzerland. The church is beautiful from the outside and inside, and is open to the public with a free entrance. What stood out for us with this church is how beautiful the church ground is as well, with a surrounding cemetery that is quite historical to Lucerne. You can trace some of the prominent names of citizens of Lucerne and see how far the history of the city goes. Quite a tranquil experience to be here and definitely enjoyed our experience here.
