Rose Garden (Rosengarten)
A public park since 1913, this site served as a cemetery in the 19th century. Today, the manicured lawns and formal gardens draw both visiting tourists and picnicking locals. In addition to roses, the neat flowerbeds display 30 different types of rhododendrons and 200 kinds of irises. Take a stroll along the footpaths to see the rose varieties named after Ingrid Bergman, Maria Callas, Christopher Columbus, and Cleopatra. Walk here from the Old Town, or take the public bus from the city's main train station. Start your trip to Bern by creating a personalized itinerary on Inspirock.

Located a short walk (and a slight climb) away from Bern's old town, the Rose Garden is a tranquil park that is home to beautiful roses, trees and fountain. We visited here in summer, and if you enjoy relaxing strolls in the park, then you would like it here. Aside from the roses, the park also offers a panoramic view of the city and the river, which you can take may pretty photos of. There's also a very nice restaurant here if you fancy a bite or drink.

Definitely worth a visit! If not only for the beautiful rose garden then for the amazing views you get of the city of Bern from the gardens. You can see the river, the city and the mountains in the backdrop. Note if you are entering from the side close to the Nydeggbrück bridge, there is a moderately steep incline of about 350m to walk up. I'm not sure what the other entrances (if any) are like.
