  • It is world #heritage with a long history in #Spain . Built by the Arevaci, an ancient tribe who lived in the Meseta Central, it was conquered by the #Roman Empire in the first century AD and turned into a strategic military base.
  • Above a third of the way up the hill to the Alcazar is public square, Plaza de Medina del Campo. Flanked by beautiful Church of San Martin on one side and by nice looking hotels and shops on the other. At the centre of the square is a set of steps that take you up to the old watch tower. On the way up you'll also pass a monument to Juan Bravo, one of the leaders of the failed Revolt of the Comuneros. There's a restaurant near the top of the steps and because it's about 5 metres above the street level, it's a nice pace to sit and people watch. Don't go out of the way to see this though, as you're more likely to be walking past to get to the Cathedra, Alcazar or Plaza Mayor.
