Remarkably well preserved for being more than 1,000 years old, Santa María del Naranco. Prerrománico asturiano has served as a hunting palace as well as a pre-Romanesque church. Its architecture is worth studying because of the age alone, but it’s also unique in style: at the front and the rear, four columns each form porticos. Note the sculpture of a Greek cross, which symbolizes the Asturian monarchy. Enjoy views down to the city of Oviedo and toward the statue of Christ on the cross. Really worth visit for 4 euros! In this price is included a guide and you can visit the both churches. We liked very much.

Amazing place! Always had wanted to see it in real life and it didn’t disappoint! The parking lot (free) is a little bit farther down the hill but there is a 5-minute (a little steep) walking path that gets you to the church.
