Built on the foundations of an abandoned electrical station, Caixa Forum is a cultural center that showcases the best in modern art and design created using environmentally friendly techniques. Check out the wall garden made by French botanist Patrick Blanc, which covers an entire outside wall with whimsical greenery. The museum’s exhibits are a blend of older retrospectives and contemporary art, and have made the center the most visited attraction in Madrid. Check the website before your visit for discounts and a list of current exhibitions. Add Caixa Forum and other attractions to your Madrid trip itinerary using our Madrid trip itinerary tool.

  • What a cool space! There were a few rotating exhibits and art shows in this museum but the real star of this place is the modern Spanish design (as well as the vertical garden outside). I really enjoyed wandering around this space. I visited around 10am when it opened and the place was mostly empty. There multiple floors of theaters and classrooms that were not in use and ALL were designed really really well. I particularly enjoyed the white, wavy staircase that was a gaudy-esque modern space. It is free to enter the building and visit the small gift shop and a few open spaces (like the restaurant upstairs). However, it was only 6 euros to visit both exhibits and well worth the price. Stop by this place!
  • Very nice exhibition about Nicholas Tesla. A lot of information to read and listen. The Caixa Forum is always a good spot with amazing exhibitions. It definitely worth a visit. The Reina Sofia Museum is also not too far, those two museums are often to combine to enjoy modern art exhibitions.
