Create an itinerary including New Tretyakov Gallery
View a special collection of Russian masterpieces spanning over a thousand years at New Tretyakov Gallery. Visit the museum, which was founded in 1892 from a collection donated to the city by Pavel Tretyakov, a merchant and art patron. Now the exhibits contain over 170,000 Russian works of art from different eras. The new building of the gallery boasts modern works from 20th-century artists, including Chagall, Kandinsky, and Malevich. As you tour the gallery, notice its fairy-tale architectural style. Outside, take time to walk through the on-site sculpture park. Use our Moscow trip itinerary website to add New Tretyakov Gallery and other attractions to your Moscow vacation plans.

  • Massive sober austere, luminous perfectly adapted to modern and contemporary art. Interior and it's garden in very good shape, exterior stars to show the traces of time and harsh climate. Currently there is a great exhibition of Mikhail Vrubel. Stunning by grace and sadness... A must seer
  • A great place to experience modern Russian and Soviet art. The gallery is well designed and maintained. Placement of the Black Square is a bit awkward, while the layout of the halls is well thought through. The building itself is a great piece of Soviet Brutalist architecture. A must visit for anyone interested in modern art.
