The Viscri fortified church (Romanian: Biserica fortificată din Viscri; German: Kirchenburg von Deutsch-Weisskirch) is a Lutheran fortified church in Viscri (Deutsch-Weisskirch), Brașov County, in the Transylvania region of Romania. It was built by the ethnic German Transylvanian Saxon community at a time when the area belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary. Initially Roman Catholic, it became Lutheran following the Reformation. • The Viscri Fortified Church is easy to find if you have a GPS but worth the drive. You have to park down the street from the church but it is just a short walk to the site. The outside is very well...

  • The top attraction in Viscri is the fortified church, definitely worth visiting. If you climb in the church tower, you'll get a nice view of the village and surrounding area. The ticket price is only 12 RON. What I didn't like was that the visiting schedule was very short, between 11 and 15 (in the summer it s much longer).
  • Beautiful place, calm environment and in my opinion pretty authentic, you can still feel the original vibe. Very easily accessible by car, with a couple restaurants around (bring cash tho). Only downside not a lot is explained about the citadel, it's very difficult to know the history of it.
