Discover the natural beauty of Puerto Rico at Bosque Estatal de Guanica. The nature reserve features 12 trails, which lead you past small limestone caves, up to forts, and through both dry and evergreen vegetation. As you make your way through the forest, notice local plant life, such as cactuses and other dry-weather vegetation. Find tropical beaches located on the fringe of the nature reserve, which sits on the island’s south coast. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Guanica holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Bosque Estatal de Guanica and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

We stayed at the Copamarina resort, and just drove down the end of the road (333) and walked the Meseta trail from there. I didn't see much for signage, but based on what others wrote on Alltrails...

Planned my trip around going here only to get here and it be closed. A lady came down to the gate as I was about to leave and I asked her why it was closed and she said they're only open Wednesday to Sunday.. nowhere anywhere online or even at the gate can I find anything that says that so it would be nice if somewhere they put that information. So my review is not on the place itself I'm sure it's awesome It's more on the people who run it and don't do a very good job imagin that. Got to love how there's people in charge of when we can hike and enjoy nature on our own land.

What a cool place, a hidden gem in Puerto Rico. I highly recommend visiting here. The main visitor center was destroyed in an earthquake a year ago (according to the park ranger). At first we didn't really know what to do here since the park ranger was at lunch and there were only 2 other cars in the parking lot. We ate a picnic near the visitor center and used the clean bathrooms nearby. By the time we had ate, the park ranger was back and told us about the trials. There's only a handful of trails and he recommended the trail that makes a loop and has an option to go to El Vigia view point. If we do this trail, I highly recommended going to the view point, it is only about an extra 15 minutes and is absolutely stunning. The main trial is 45 minutes (without the view point detour) and doesn't have a ton to look at, though the whole hike is nice, easy, and interesting considering you are in a dry forest on a Caribbean Island. Definitely check out the cave nearby the picnic area, that was really cool too!
