Flor & Fjære
Walk down the romantic footpaths among bamboo and palm trees at Flor & Fjære, a tropical garden nestled on a small Scandinavian island. Surrounded by fjords and mountains, the island lies on the same latitude as Alaska. Pine trees planted in the 1960s provide shelter from the strong winds and keep the temperatures warmer than average. Take a 20-minute boat trip to get to the island. On the guided tour you may pick up a few useful tips, such as how to get lemon trees to bear fruit and how to keep your lawn in good order. The restaurant offers panoramic views of the fjord and mountains and serves buffet-style food prepared with local ingredients. With our custom trip planner, Stavanger attractions like Flor & Fjære can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

What a wonderful experience on this island paradise. A true testament to the Norwegian spirit of ingenuity and love for the land. A remarkable place full of joy & beauty at every turn.

What an experience. This island is truly amazing, a beautifully curated garden with so many plants, flowers, trees, ponds and laid out pathways that connect them. The tour was done by a really funny and relaxed guy who created such positive vibes and explained the incredible history of this island in rich detail. After the tour which takes about 40 minutes you have time to explore the island yourself and in my case take more pictures. In fact, you are not really aware of the many people that are on the island simultaneously as they kind of spread on the many paths. You need to book your slot in advance online, either in the morning or the afternoon. You get to the island by ferry which leaves at 6pm. The experience includes a three courses dinner with accompanied wines - the signature dish is the fish soup which the wife of the owner and founder of the gardens actually cooked for their guests when the island was not open to the public yet, many years ago - it‘s delicious. The dinner is in the newly built greenhouse that hosts all the plants during winter. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you!
