At Grutas Park, walk through a recreated Soviet prison camp and view Communist-era statues and relics to learn more about this period in Lithuania's past. The park got its start after the country gained its independence in 1990, when many Soviet statues were removed and dumped in various places. The founder aimed to bring these statues together in one place, and founded an attraction revolving around this history that still remains controversial today. The 86 statues are organized into groupings, such as the Totalitarian Sphere and the Terror Sphere, featuring major Communist leaders from Lithuania and other countries. Notice the barbed wire, guard towers, and the train car used to transport people to Gulags. You can take a tour to receive more in-depth information on each statue and exhibit. There is also a mini zoo located on the property and a cafe that serves Soviet food. For Grutas Park and beyond, use our Druskininkai trip planner to get the most from your Druskininkai vacation.

Something should be kept away, but not forgotten. This is the place to watch magnificent statues from Soviet time. There are excellent leisure for kids too, playground and a small zoo including bears (yes!)
