A peaceful public space, Yamashita Park faces Yokohama's waterfront. After the 1923 earthquake that left much of Yokohama in ruin, the city government recycled the rubble from the disaster to build this park, first opened in 1930. The space now contains a 1929 Japanese ocean liner converted into a ship museum, as well as assorted notable sculptures, including a Girl Scout statue marking the 50th anniversary of the popular youth organization. Bring a picnic and spread out on the park's grassy, landscaped lawns. • We were there on a beautiful sunny day. Walking in this beautiful park, in the cool weather, taking in the sceneries. What is there not to like.

  • A beautiful seaside port strip to walk along the sea, offering a variety of views and experiences. With a center fountain, a beautiful rose garden lined with a row of benches to sit and watch the sea. Ships docked with flags and lights. Garden with flowers and a lot of activity around.
  • Didn’t see much as it was nighttime already when I found myself in the park on the way to the Gundam thingy. I assume the park would be a lot more beautiful if I’m able to visit it during the daytime. It seems to be a big park as well. The lights look nice at night. Still good for doing some photography.
