Create an itinerary including Mt.Tengu
Head up Mt.Tengu for a spectacular view of the Shakotan Peninsula and Ishikari Bay. Open both day and night, the ropeway leads to the top of the 532 m (1,745 ft) mountain south of Otaru's city center. The ropeway's summit station has a small hall that houses over 700 goblin masks. (Rub the Tengu Goblin mask's nose to get your wish.) Visit the museum and ski archives, and enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants. Hike your way down through the woods afterwards, or take the ropeway back to save energy for other activities. • Quick and frequent direct buses to and from Otaru station can take you to this really gorgeous view - be sure to view it by day and by night. Options for ziplining and hot air ballooning as well...

  • It was hard to understand the trailhead! The road was narrow and not very paved, and it was full of grass and insects lol The weather was bad, but it was fantastic as if I was in the clouds. It was about 1 hour and 10 minutes one way and 1 hour down the mountain.
  • A hidden gem near Sapporo! It's still a minor mountain, but it's a pretty good one. The view from the summit is good, and the mountain trail is healed because there are several swamps. There are a lot of landmarks to avoid getting lost.
