  • This shrine is just for the instagram photo lol The shrine that has little historic value and functions mostly as a tourist attraction I guess. It’s located in a remote area with no public transportation. To be honest this shrine really isn’t worth a visit unless you really really need the insta pic or your doing a road trip and it’s just one of your rest stops.
  • A striking photo location for instagram but a shrine that has little historic value and functions mostly as a tourist attraction. It’s located in a remote area with no public transportation. Access is really only practical by car, taxi, or tour bus. For Japanese it’s a road trip destination and the parking lots fill up. My guess is this was created and spruced up to attract visitors to this region which has little else to offer visitors and is well off the beaten path. Nagato and Hagi are not the most attractive places to visit and inconvenient compared to the cities on the Pacific coast. This shrine really isn’t worth a visit unless you really really need the insta pic. Go to Matsuyama instead.
