Take a pleasant stroll through Kairakuen Park, a large Japanese garden offering some natural relief from the urbane surroundings. Considered one of the three great gardens of Japan, the park's name translates as "a park to be enjoyed together," indicative of the fact that it was, unlike the other two, always designed to be enjoyed by the local populace. Opened in 1841, the gardens display white, pink, and red plum blossom trees, a bamboo grove, cedar wood, and a traditional Japanese building in the center. The plum tree garden was amazing with amazing fragrance. I also enjoyed the old historical cottage-kind of museum inside here. Although they ask for additional fee to get inside, it was worth it.

Winter visiting less impressive than in full bloom during spring and summer but still beautiful and tranquil. Winter also sees less crowds a chance to enjoy in a Covid safe way.
