The area was absolutely massive and was basically a super clean Times Square. Unfortunately the Palace itself was closed when my wife and I got there so I cant really review that. However, if you are trying to find a peaceful area to go on a walk or run, I highly recommend.

The palace itself is beautiful, but really the best part is that it is a public park for everyone. You can bike, walk, jog, run, play on the playground, eat at the picnic tables... It really is the Central Park of downtown Kyoto City!
