Create an itinerary including Great Seto Bridge
The only double-deck bridge of the six bridges connecting Honshu and Shikoku islands, Great Seto Bridge spans over 13 km (8 mi) across the Seto Sea, carrying two railway lines on its lower deck. A marvel of engineering which took a decade to complete, the bridge complex has become a major tourist attraction. You can take a pleasure boat tour from Kojima sightseeing port to admire the bridge from below, or simply hop on a train to get spectacular views from the bridge itself. It takes 20 minutes to cross the bridge by train or by car. Nearby, three suspension bridges, two oblique suspension bridges, and one truss bridge make great silhouettes, and add to the scene when illuminated after sunset. • When I cross the Seto Bridge, I remember the daughter of Ryo Wada's Murakami pirate. It's exciting to see the scenes in the book when I see the sights of the ships coming and going. I'm a citizen of the prefecture without the sea, but I want to move to a place near such a beautiful sea, so I go there every time (laughs).
  • 50 minutes from Marugame to Kurashiki. I was surprised that it was close and cheap (light and less than 2000 yen). Is the maintenance cost borne by the local government? I cruised at 80km and enjoyed the scenery. The return trip was swept away by the crosswind.
