Founded in 1334, the Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple had a straw roof until it was damaged by an earthquake in 1923, but still displays a similar roof on its bell tower today. Also known as "Bamboo Temple," the religious site has an attractive bamboo grove just behind the main hall. With over 2,000 tall bamboo plants, and a small tea house, the garden offers a place of respite popular with tourists and worshippers alike.     Another of Kamakura's many gems. Lovely place to stroll around. Easy to get to and wasn't crowded when I went. Well recommended.

    Lovely hidden gem that is popular with the locals. This shrine is an ideal scenic visit if you're in the area with a nominal entry fee. There is a small bamboo forest and teahouse like the famed Kyoto version. Shrine garden is relatively small, expect crowds especially on the weekends.

    Incredible place. Amazing bamboo park. It’s kinda wildlife, but here you can have some green tea while you watching it.
