Create an itinerary including Former Taisha Station
The last remaining station of the now defunct JR Taisha line, Former Taisha Station represents a fine example of Imperial Crown-style architecture. Constructed in 1924, this cultural treasure is one of only three remaining stations preserved from this period, utilizing wood and traditionally curved, tiled roofs, topped by ridgepole ornaments in a fashion distinct to the country. Exploring the station will give you a sense of how it functioned all those years ago, with mannequin displays of original uniforms, photographs, and even a preserved steam locomotive sitting at the platform. Bring along your camera to capture this typical early 20th-century terminal. • It brings you back to the old times when the station was popular, also the high time of Japan. In contrast to the current state of Izumo
  • It is a comfortable station ruin where you can feel the atmosphere of the JNR era. It is recommended that you take your time and relax. As the name suggests, you can go on foot from Izumo Taisha, so it is perfect for sightseeing in Izumo. It is also included in the Twilight Mizukaze route, so it is a tourist destination that JR West has confidence in.
