Gawp at the centerpiece of the national geological park, Lake Toya, a volcanic caldera lake surrounded by impressive scenery. With a circumference of 43 km (26 mi), the large lake boasts a number of attractions, both around and on it, with boat tours and hikes serving as the best ways to explore the area. The active volcanic nature of the area means you'll find a number of hot springs around the lake, with various spa resorts to enjoy. To learn about the geological history of the lake and the volcanic formations around it, head to the science museum located on its banks.
