Oike, Fukuyama

It is a pond that becomes the Mitarai pond of Kibitsu Shrine. In the past, the Kamiya River, which became the Mitarai River, flowed just east of this. It is said that the Kamiya River and Oike played the role of a water moat that protects the castle county of Kibitsu Shrine. It is said that the current pond is quite reclaimed even if it is so large, and it was originally spread around the north side and was nearly three times as large. Three islands floated in the pond, and a temple was erected on the largest northern island, and a three-storied pagoda was towering. It is said that there was a long wooden drum bridge to the east from the area around Itsukushima Shrine, which remains as a peninsula, and there was a wooden large torii gate with a height of more than 10 meters. Is said to have been dismantled and brought back for conversion to Hiroshima Castle.

Great as a scenic spot. Healed by the beautiful scenery. Many carps were swimming in the pond, and some were feeding. It seems that feeding is OK. However, there is no place in the neighborhood where you can sell food, and you will have to bring it yourself.
