One of the city's most iconic areas known for its flowering cherry trees, Chidorigafuchi plays home to a park, a lengthy pedestrian path, and a historic moat. Originally part of the defenses of the now-ruined Edo Castle, the moat and earthworks suffered heavy damage during World War II. You can visit the park surrounding the moat and wander its 700 m (2,297 ft) pedestrian walkway to take in the views of the seasonally blossoming cherry trees, a symbol of the region. Alternatively, rent a paddleboat or canoe and explore from the water, winding your way between the moat walls surrounded by low-hanging trees.
