Create an itinerary including Shirogane Blue Pond
Rather obviously named after its deep blue color, Shirogane Blue Pond originally served as part of an erosion control system essential to protecting Biei from a potential Mount Tokachidake eruption. Located next to the hot spring destination Shirogane Onsen, this site provides visitors with a scenic place to walk and take photos. It takes less than ten minutes to walk through the wooded area and arrive at this body of water. • Although the area is small, it is worth the stop. The pond is beautiful to look at with a scenic view of the dams waterfall. Parking is 500¥ per vehicle though there are a few areas prior you can pull to the side and walk to the parks many walking paths. There's a small shop that is a bit pricey but holds some cute trinkets and yummy snacks.
  • It was quite lovely for a slow leisurely stroll around the water. Not much else to do other than walk around but it is the kind of place one would need to tick off from their list. Very blue water which is objectively beautiful. If you’re up for bit of a drive just to have a stroll, then it’s a good place to visit.
