This station has improved greatly in recent years. There is now a proper bus terminal out front and you can walk straight into Aeon. Bonus points for having adequate seating. This is sorely lacking...

Easy ride on the bus. Direct to CTS in Sapporo and no transfer as would be needed with the train. With skis and other gear train would have been more difficult.

The aesthetics of this station is just fantastic. It's wood-themed interior and the art displays inside makes it look like a museum of sorts. If you are going around Hokkaido, Asahikawa Station is conveniently located in the heart of the prefecture hence it is where you should stay if you want to explore Hokkaido's natural beauty.
