It has a very troubled history. Built in 1390, it was damaged by a fire in 1571. It was rebuilt, but in 1945, following a bombing, it was destroyed again. Rebuilt, it was severely damaged by the 1976 earthquake. It was rebuilt using its own stones. On its facades, there are painted the coats of arms of the noble families of the city and in the courtyard there are valuable frescoes. In memory of the Venetian domination, the Lion of San Marco stands out on the tower.
