Santa Maria della Sanita, Naples

This church is located in the (rather infamous) neighborhood called Sanità. (In fact, the neighborhood Rione Sanità has a special charm, it is not possible to visit Naples and not go there). The Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità is impressive, but a little neglected. Its beauty and artistic treasures inside are worth the effort of an extensive renovation.

The basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità rises in the heart of the Sanità district in Naples, wanted by the Neapolitan faithful as a sign of devotion to the Madonna, following the discovery of a fresco from the V-VI, which is now in one of the chapels of the basilica. The church is a real pictorial paradise, which constitutes precious seventeenth-century works of art among its naves. The fabulous permanent crib measuring 4 meters by 3 meters and more than 2 meters high is very interesting and beautiful. It is kept in a display case and can be admired from all sides. Also interesting is the dome covered externally with green and yellow majolica.
