Extraordinary and relatively little known, the Ashkenazi synagogue of Gorizia dates back to the Hapsburg 18th century and amazes for the brightness and elegance of its Baroque forms. The adjoining Jewish museum, on the ground floor, bears witness to the tragic evolution of anti-Semitism up to the Shoah and the consequent abandonment of the structure, restored to its former glory in the 1980s.
