Church of Sant'Ignazio, Gorizia

In Piazza della Vittoria, built between 1654 and 1747 by the will of the Jesuits, there is a single nave structure. Inside there are 3 chapels on both sides with splendid baroque altars, marble decorations, carved and inlaid wooden furnishings from the 17th century, the altar by the Venetian sculptor Lazzarini (1716) and the 18th century fresco of the pulpit "La Gloria di S. Ignatius "painted by Tausch. The exterior facade by Christoph Tausch enhances its architectural features. In the niches, located above the three entrances, we can admire the statues of the saints: St. Ignatius in the center, John the Baptist on the right and St. Joseph on the left. The two bell towers with the classic bronze onion domes complete its beauty. This church is also accessible to people with physical disabilities.
