Showcasing the awesome beauty and power of nature, Vajont Dam forms an artificial lake inside a protected natural park. The dam is often remembered for the landslide of 1963 that caused massive devastation to the surrounding area and valley. A museum commemorates the tragedy. Most visitors come here for the views and guided tours organized by the natural park's staff. When you visit, you'll have to stay on designated paths and wear shoes appropriate for uneven terrain. With our custom trip planner, Erto e Casso attractions like Vajont Dam can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The views are stunning. Looks can kill, we are told. We paid respect to the victims of disaster. Two * for whoever was responsible for that.

  • It seems great, BUT we couldn't visit it and get past the main gate because we had to book a guided tour BEFORE visiting there. Otherwise there is no one to buy the tickets and you will be stuck on a locked gate like us. We even found a group visiting there with an official employee and tried to buy a ticket but he responded that we had to book online otherwise we can't visit the dam.
  • Amazing place where you can see the empty basin of one of the largest dams in the world. Today a monument to remember the Thousands that died when the dam was overtopped
