Erected in the 8th century, The Longobard Temple - World Heritage Site remains one of Italy's most significant examples of Lombard architecture. Lombards ruled the Italian Peninsula between about 568 and 774, leaving behind few major architectural works. This temple and chapel, with high-relief saint sculptures in stucco and frescoes showing Byzantine influence, have been on the World Heritage List with six other Lombard locations since 2011. With 4€ you can visit the tempietto longobardo inside the monastery. Take your time to visit this small jewel, mostly if you love ancient art. There are descriptions in Italian and English about the life of the nuns and about the temple and its frescoes.

Unfortunately the temple is currently being renovated and there is very little to see - the films were very interesting and I imagine it will be great when it is finished
