National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia
National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia illustrates the history of a sea port that served as the gateway to the Mediterranean for almost 700 years. The museum contains an exceptional collection, compiled over a period of two centuries. As you discover the exhibits, you'll travel back to an ancient Roman metropolis and learn all about its commercial and cosmopolitan characteristics. Items on display include household furnishings, decorative pieces, coins, gems, and statues. Displays continue just outside the museum, where you'll see hundreds of funerary monuments and inscriptions providing a look into the social and religious customs of an ancient Roman community. Old mansion converted into modern museum. Ok, maybe it lacks some multimedia and more advanced presentation of it's treasures, but all in all definitely worthy to see and absorb.

Amazing collection of anticquites including absolutely superb mosaics, sculptures and curved pictures-miniatures on gemmas. Exposition are located in three floors building and big yard and one hour is not enough to overlook all details.

The museum has had a makeover recently and the set-up is neat, take it from an archi student. Every object is presented in a way that valorizes it perfectly, also there is plenty of plaques explaining every aspect of what's showcased, both historical and of matter info. I personally don't know the price of tickets but it's free for art history/architecture students, and there's a pass called "FVG Card Aquileia" that for the price of 15€ gives you access to the Basilica and the two cripts, the baptistery and two other mosaic exposition.
