A cluster of small Hindu Javanese buildings built in the 8th century, Gedong Songo Temple sits atop a mountain for views of the surrounding landscape. Representing the oldest Hindu structures in the area, the temple is an early example of architecture erected from the volcanic stone abundant in the Javanese mountains, similar to Dieng Plateau. You can drive a car to the site, but consider renting a ride on horseback from town for an authentic, local feel. Second time here, the first time when I was 6 years old and pretty sure the ambience temperature was much lower than now. My personal opinion: A unique Hindu temple complex since the temples are scattered around the hill so you definitely have to hike up to visit each temple which are 9 of them (hence the name of "Songo" means 9 in Javanese or Basa Jawa). The weather wasn't that great on Christmas day hence the hike was cut short, otherwise, I would hike further. If you don't like walking, definitely get on the horse which will take you to the top. Not sure how much as I wasn't that interested anyway.

I suggest you all come in the morning. The weather is nice, and always ride the horses (150k), the horse owner are all nice and take good pictures of you while riding horse. The hiking track quite far but the scenery is rewarding.
