Create an itinerary including Sarnath
Visit the village of Sarnath, one of four holy destinations on the Buddhist circuit, boasting a deer park where Buddha gave his first Dharma sermon. Join Buddhists from all over the world, who flock to this key pilgrimage site, the most sacred of the circuit stops, along with Buddha’s place of birth, death, and enlightenment. Admire the various stupas and Buddhist meditation structures, including one that marks the spot where the first teaching happened, or explore the small town and take in the peaceful atmosphere. Put Sarnath and other Varanasi attractions into our Varanasi travel planning app, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Sarnath excursion began with a visit to the Museum. There is no booking window where we could buy tickets. Instead, a QR code is displayed on a big board which has to be scanned to buy tickets...

  • Sarnath is where Buddha gave his first discourse. We visited the Museum and the ruins. They were excellent. Otherwise the town is small.

  • Amazing so serene and so calmness all around. You must take a guide with you so that they can explain it’s importance and more facts about the place. Also it is open to everyone. It is very clean and you would nit find any litter around.
  • It is one of the holiest sites for Buddhists and Hinduism pilgrimage but is open to everyone. It is well connected to public transportation. It has major four sections including temples, parks, and monuments. It can be improved with an audio guide system, a light-telling story system, and medication or yoga classes. The place is clean and well managed but still needs improvement. Beware of scammers and taxi drivers.
