Marvel at exquisite ancient stonemasonry and bricklaying at Dhamek Stupa, a massive early Buddhist tower built in 500 AD in the spot of an older stupa built by King Ashoka. Believed to mark the spot where Buddha preached his first sermon, this impressive 34 m (111.5 ft) tall cylinder-shaped structure features a stone drum base of 28.5 m (93.5 ft) in diameter with the upper portion made of bricks. Geometrical and floral designs dominate the lower parts of the tower with swastikas, some human figures and birds. Pilgrims come to pray in the garden surrounding the tower on a huge lawn lined with trees. It is a very peaceful place. I meditated here and it's a very soulful and energetic feels. Many monks meditate there Every day. This place is connected with Lord Buddha, some people says.

There is a grand temple of Buddha here. This place is quite famous for the fact that here Lord Gautam Buddha gave his first sermon to his 5 followers. That's why Buddhism spread, that's why it is very famous in the country and the world. Here Chinese people come to visit in very good numbers and all the things found here are either written in Pali or in Mandarin. It feels great to walk here. The stupa here is even more attractive.
