At Adalaj Step-well, explore the water building which served as a resting place for many pilgrims and traders for hundreds of years. Built in 1499, its carved ornamentation depicts mythological scenes that represent the Indo-Islamic architecture. Enter the mystical site via one of three stairs which meet at a huge square platform underground, while an opening in the ceilings invite sunlight. See the spots where villagers came to fill their pots with sacred water from the octagonal well, offered prayers to gods, and socialized. The site has well-connected routes, so you can reach it by via train, car, or bus. • Very well preserved monument with beautiful stone carvings. Worth visiting. Non Indians pay a little more entrance fee.

  • Is a few centuries old and architecture which would make it worth a visit. It is not huge but would need you to walk down a few steps!

  • Great place to see heritage of architecture in Gujarat. Detailings are so amazing. Must visit site. It's deep into the ground, when you entering into the ground, you will start slowly unveiling the layers below the ground and it leads towards the main water body. Spectacular..!
  • One of good places to visit around Ahmedabad. Recommend to visit in early evening. There is ticket Rs 25 for Indians and Rs. 300 for foreign nationals. Earlier there was no entry charges and so not well maintained... however now well maintained. Tickets also can be booking using digital platform we could not as the website was not responsive. So had to pay cash at the counter.
