Beginning its life as a hospital-- the outline of which you can see in the paving stones of the square--Kornmarkt became a marketplace in 1557. Now, it's a central destination for many events and celebrations, including the town's Christmas market. It's also an excellent jumping-off point for your tour of the city. Take advantage of the convenient parking below the square, and take in the impressive view of the castle looming above. If you plan to spend time at an event, remember to wear comfy shoes, as the uneven cobblestones can be hard on the feet.
